HiLeah,

I wish you and Brownie Bear the best of luck for the upcoming surgery. I know
that you've been doing a lot of research onthe subject of bladder stones in
guinea pigs.
I mentioned it to my german piggy advisors, and I wanted to share with you
the information I received from them. First of all, they believe that it is much
better for guinea pigs to get shots instead of oral medication. This is for
better absorption of the meds and that way the digestive system does not get
affected by it. Makes sense to me. Second, they recommend to have the guinea
pigs cage off the ground and away from draft. In their opinion, guinea pigs can
catch cold or bladder infections when the cage is placed on a cold floor. And
third, they do not recommend feeding cucumber EVER. Why I don't know and I'll
try to find out.
For my two cents worth, I would insist on pain medication for the first 4-5
days after surgery and I would start with feeding 4ml pumpkin pie filling the
same day after surgery. It worked great for Sweetie.

Best of luck, and stay in touch

Marion
