I have several piggies who love the taste and texture of towels, and one
who is a paper connoisseuer. I gave up on traditional bedding- too
expensive. Instead I bought a $5 bale of grass hay from a local farmer
outside Boulder, CO. I use the hay as bedding, over a layer of newspapers
with a towel under the whole thing. I can roll up the paper with the wet
or dirty hay and throw out or compost the lot, and the towel dries quickly
enough once the paper is removed. The piggies seem to like the system,
though they still sample any exposed paper and towels they find. I also
have a few different types of clean paper for the paper eating pig.
