[Gpdd] [CARE] Hot temperatures

Hi All,

I know it's a bit early to think of with all that frost and snow (at least here) :) ...

We've recently moved to Athens and our guineas are currently housed in indoor cages. Soon we'll build them a nice huge apartment block (indoors!) to live in. We're in the design phase right now.

We are wondering though what to do when it gets hot, in the summer the temperatures will rise quite high (last years top was 42C, if I'm not mistaken it's in the region of 105F!!).

I was thinking of building 2 regulated computer fans in the top of each horizontal rows of "apartments" so the air will move along the top (approx. 10 inches above the beloved guineas). It will not blow directly on them, plus since I can make them run slow it will be just a very light breeze when needed.
Is this a good idea? Or should I consider something else?

We're already planning a pool (water level of 1 inch) and a tiled area, so they have some means of cooling off.

We're not going to use cooling elements (like the ones you use for travelling), since it will be awkward to place them. Wetted & cooled bricks (from the fridge) covered with a piece of towel is one of the ideas, but still not very practical and permanent.

Any other considerations with regards to the heat? Other than having an air-conditioning unit in the room, not close to the guineas.
