I was 39 when I got my GP's and had never had them as a child.  I wanted a pet and had realized that dogs and cats were out for various reasons.  I looked into rabbits but just did not like what I read.  A friend of mine told me that her children's guinea pig had just had an unusually large litter (7) and that they were great pets.  I visited and picked out 2 that day.  

I have not regretted of a minute of being a guinea pig mom.
