Hi All!
I'm new to posting here, but I just had to let everybody know about my
Harvey, and ask a few questions! I have kept piggies before, even bred them,
where I used to live, but somehow my Harvey is the most special one to me.
You see, I moved 192 miles away to come and live with my boyfriend, away
from all of my family, and I felt so lonely he took me to get Harvey.
Straight away animal and human formed this massive bond, which my boyfriend
just doesn't understand, but I hope all of you will! He means the world to
me; he's my little prince!
Right, questions. Firstly, I was wondering if I could do anything about his
destructive streak! He's certianly a character in his own right, and boy do
we know it! I clean him out thoroughly twice a week, he is well fed and
watered, he had toys to play with, but still, as soon as I clean him out and
put him back (after his bath), he trashes his cage; pulling the newspaper up
from under the sawdust and kicking it about everywhere. Also, he has a
jingly Guinea Pig shaped toy used to feed him tidbits, and he's always
attacking it, slinging it across his cage and hitting it. What can I do
about the violence? Is there a reason?
Also, he is in the habit of nibbling us humans. Not hard, but annoying
nonetheless. He also licks and kisses too, which is so cute, but the biting
isn't! He has wooden toys to gnaw on, and gets carrots and fresh veg every
day, as well as plenty of dry food, but he still does it! Any advice?
Lastly, do you think it's safe to feed him grass picked from the garden? I
wash it first, and give it to him. I've done it a couple of times so far,
but I'm starting to worry it's not good for him......he is a fatty and I'm
worried it's making him fatter or if it's unhealthy in some way! (Although
the vet says he is not overweight, I beg to differ!)
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and sorry this has been so killer
long!
Wheeeeps from Harvey, screams of pain from his mama!
