Pickles, at 7 months, weighs in at 2lbs 4 ounces. Cuddles at 2 1/2yrs old
weighs in at 3lbs 5 ounces, and Casper at 1yr is 2lbs 5 ounces. We finally
saw the guinea pig specialist in Concord, NH this last week. We had been
seeing his co-worker who is learning, but was using (excuse the pun)
Pickles as her "guinea pig". The vet loved him and thought he was a
beautiful coloration. He wanted to know if I was planning to breed him...I
had to say no. I am not set up to care for that many and I don't think I
could find homes without grilling people till they decide it's not worth
it! Pickles is finally over the mites. Four treatments of
Revolution. They are stubborn buggers.
I wanted to share about my recent experience with a pet store. The one
where my husband bought Pickles is the only place I can find the Vitamin C
supplement that I use. I went in and found eleven guinea pig babies in one
fish tank...small fish tank. I asked the manager if they could move them
up front into one of the larger displays as they were packed in on top of
one another. She said that was where they stay. I complained and also
informed them of all the trouble I have had with Pickles mites and they
said it's the breeders issue, they don't guarantee their animals. I was do
disheartened, that I left my C supplement and figured I'll start buying it
online. I love my Pickles, but I refuse to support that store any more. I
can't believe those poor babies are all packed in together...I would
imagine they are also mixed sexes.
I checked with out local tractor supply, and it does not carry animals at
all. They leave that to the pet stores.
