I'm new to this guinea pig thing, well sort of. I already own a pot belly
pig who is the love of my life, now we also are the proud owners of 3 little
piggys. We are just piggy people. When I say we I mean my daughter and
myself, there are other family members, but they are not into the piggys like we
are. Our baby piggys are about 4 months old, they are all male, but I think
one is a little older, he is bigger. They all live together, and I am
wondering if that is ok, and how much space in the cage they really need. Their
cage is a large dog crate for now. Do we need a bigger cage, or should they have
their own cages? What type of cage is best, I have been told you can make
one, but how? The bigger one occassionally picks on the other two. They are
all pretty piggys. One is mostly black with white spots, the other is mostly
white with 2 light tan patches, and the other is a brown, sort of brindle
color with a white stripe down his head. They are really beautiful, and the
are starting to like to be handled. We hold them atleast once a day, and they
get floor time twice a day. They poop all over when out on the floor, but
that seems to be ok, since the dogs seem to find it an interesting snack...uck!
Is this a sufficient piggy life for them? They were very skinny when we
got them, and they have plumped up nicely, they even seem to have personalities
now. Are greens and fruits necessary every day? How much should they get?
What shouldn't they eat? We get them this guinea pig food from walmart,
has things mixed in with the pellets. Gee...I think that's probably enough
questions for now. I would love to hear from anyone with some piggy
suggestions. Oh just one more....what is a Pigloo??? Thanks
P.S. Only the white one has a name...his name is Mr. G. Piggy, any piggy
name suggestions would also be welcome.
