I posted this as a last resort for such an emergency.  I suppose it would be better to try to do something then to just let the animal die while you helplessly stood by and watched.  

Thanks for making the point Tex about guinea pigs being fragile. Most of us know this already, but there are a handful of people new to the guinea pig world and might not know.  
 
I suggest we try, if we can, to find a Red Cross that offers such classes regarding animal CPR.
