[Gpdd] ANNOUNCEMENT: Guinea pig angel sighting

Hey Buddies :)

You've probably noticed there just are not enough fellow guinea pig
aficionados. It is so great that we have our on-line community, but it is
also wonderful to encounter real live people who share our joy in these
unique creatures. So here is my announcement of meeting a real-life guinea
pig angel!

Yesterday Snowball and Apache and I were at the vet's office for Snowball's
monthly tooth trimming. As we were checking out I spotted a pet carrier with
the unmistakable shape and size of a guinea pig inside. Following good
guinea pig protocol I spoke to the "Slave" a man named Bruce and met his
adorable piggie named FiFi.

It turns out that Fifi is one of four special-needs piggies that Bruce and
his wife care for. They moved to Houston from California where they helped a
guinea pig rescue in their area. Not only that, Bruce has actually turned
down job offers in Australia, England and Scotland because it would mean
quarantining or surrendering their guinea pigs. Is that dedication or what.
He told me how their pigs are ones who would not easily get a home because
of their medical conditions etc. For example Fifi has stones, but she is
actually their most easily cared for pig. It takes them hours a day caring
for just those four pigs.

So of course I told Bruce about the guinea pig stones pages, and of course
about the digest. I couldn't imagine that all the knowledgeable g-pig people
hadn't heard of the gpdd, but apparently *not* everyone has :) YET; )

In conclusion, while people have different goals and ways of relating to
others and all, it is my sincere hope that Bruce and Fifi and Co. will join
the digest and pig-ticipate in our community. And continue to shine their
light on Houston as well!
