Theresa – Congratulations on the new baby! And congratulations
to Cupcake on qualifying for LAPS! Only the very elite of the OP’s
have qualified for this fine group – quite an honor, indeed! Oh, and
our own Bullett wants to know, does Cupcake get one of those
special patrol belts to wear while she’s on patrol duty? He’s seen
them at the school crossings, and thinks they’re really cool. He
was working on qualifying for LAPS, but has had a setback. It seems
he has overworked his front teeth, and they are loose! So now he is
being hand-fed all sorts of treats to placate him (well, he was until
I caught him eating on his own!).

Bullett, by the way, gave us quite a scare last night. When I
discovered the tooth dilemma, I carried him to the couch, all
pampered on a folded bath towel, small bits of cut up treats in
a cup. After hand feeding him until he seemed full, I set him
down, giving him a little spot to hide in under a blankie if he
chose, and went back to finish tending to the other piggies.
(Dude will obediently sit there all day!) Well, when I came
back, Bullett was GONE! So I frantically searched all over til
after 2 am. Finally, I laid down for a while, leaving the lights
on for him. Everytime I heard anything I’d jump up, calling him
  and looking high and low.
Then I woke up at 5 am, and resumed the search. After moving
2 couches, several sheets of wallboard and various other items,
crawling around on the floor with a flashlight, and calling him til
I nearly lost my voice, I finally brought out the 'big guns'. I
fetched two of the lovely black girls from Texas that he’s so
partial to, Belle and Bitsy, and set them in a carrier in the middle
of the living room. (Bullett spends a good deal of his time on the
outside of their cage, whispering sweet nothings and doing his
own special dance to impress them all). Nothing.
So I started around again with the flashlight, when I finally spotted
him back behind the hot water heater! He’d apparently been making
his way back to his room, (more likely, to the girls!), and either took
a wrong turn or something startled him, and he went into the hot
water closet. Even with Belle in hand I couldn’t coax him out, so I
had to get down on all fours and pull him out, but he started purring
up a storm the minute I grabbed him!
Of course, I fed him lots of chopped up treats and bits of pellets,
until he couldn’t eat any more. He has his own little room today,
right next to the girls, where he has lots of food and water, and
doesn’t have to compete with anyone for it. And where I know I
  can find him later!
As grateful as Bullett was that I pulled him out, he gives full credit
  for his rescue to Belle!
[note: since his teeth were just loose and not broken, I’m hoping
they will tighten up and be ok with a bit of rest – aka, no chewing
  on the cage bars!]
We salute all you LAPS piggies, and want to encourage all you
others who are hoping to join their ranks. YOU CAN DO IT!

  also-
Mary Fran – Don’t apologize – I think we’d all rather be aware of such a
potential danger, even if it is a supposed hoax. Who knows? Our little
guys are so sensitive to things . . . although I wouldn’t think there would
  be much of a residue left from a Swiffer . . .
thanks for the ‘heads up’ anyway!

  Wheeks from
Susi & the Okie Piggies -
  -always looking for an adventure!
