BUTTERSCOTCH

Born: ~May 2003
Passed on April 7, 2007
Age: Almost 4 years old

Hello Slaves,
I needed to take some time before I
could get up the strength to write
my little boy's tribute. I still
can't believe that my Sweet boy is
gone. :-( But, each day gets better
and I'm hanging in there for the
time being.

So, here whee go:

We adopted Butterscotch from the
Metropolitan G-Pig Rescue (MGPR)
on September 19, 2004. Before he
came to MGPR, he had lived with an
elderly woman who had to go into a
nursing home. And so, I had been
looking for a companion for my
Brownie Bear for quite some time.
Well, I saw his pigture because he
was featured as MGPR's August 2004
'Pig of the Month'. And I just fell
in LOVE with him. I don't know how
I knew, but I knew that THIS was
the Pig for Brownie Bear.

His foster Mom at MGPR was Diane and
she did an Excellent job taking care
of my boy as he waited to find his
forever home. THANK YOU, Diane!

So, after the pigs were bonded,
Butterscotch settled in quite nicely.
He was a very rambunctious little
fella and he was starved for attention,
so he was always making a bunch of
noise and causing a ruckus. He was so
Fun to watch, I must admit. Although,
he wasn't much of a Wheeeeker. For
such a loud pig, he had a pretty
pathetic-sounding wheeeker.

He Looooooooved FRESH Timothy Hay.
I always kept free-choice hay in
their cage and Butterscotch would
play in it and eat it and bury himself
in it and eventually fall asleep.

Butterscotch would take anything I
gave him from a syringe. Since his
Big Sis was always being syringed, he
thought that stuff from the syringe
was a Treat! I would often give him
just plain 'ole everyday water through
the syringe and he thought it was the
Best thing ever.

Butterscotch was my Purr Machine. He
purrrrrrred all of the time. I could
just look at him and give him a dreamy
look and he would purr up a storm. He
Loved his Brownie Bear to pieces and
anytime she would move, he would purr.
He was a very affectionate pig. And
he was my little Cuddle Bug. He really
enjoyed being cuddled and would close
his big, beautiful brown eyes and fall
asleep on you. He was a Jewel.

Butterscotch was a Silly pig. He was
always doing funny things to make
Blaine and me laugh. He was kind of
the Class Clown, if you will. I cannot
tell you how many times I have fallen
to my knees laughing at his silly ways.
He was a breath of fresh air.

Butterscotch LOVED his Brownie Bear.
He would follow her around where ever
she went. He worshiped the ground she
walked on. B-Bear didn't like to show
her affection, but I knew that she
secretly Loved him too.

Butterscotch was a very Friendly pig.
When visitors came over, he would
always come out to see what was going
on. He wasn't very shy at all, a very
personable pig. And boy! did he Love
the Ladies. He was quite the Flirt
when it came to the Ladies...blinking
those big, adorable eyes. Oh, I melt
just thinking about those eyes. He
had a few piggie girlfriends too, like
Mini from Hawaii, and Corkster of the
Haypile Honeys, and Trinket--(BS's
Favorite piggie-sitter, Mary's pig).

His Vet in Virginia was Dr. Valerie
Campbell and his Vet in North Carolina
was Dr. Chris Griffin. He was a relatively
healthy pig, except for the removal of
a couple of fatty tumors by Dr. G last
summer. THANK YOU both for caring for
my boy!

Butterscotch went through 2 moves with
us and lived in 3 different places. He
didn't travel very well and I think
he always thought that he was going to
be left behind. But, once he got to
where whee were going, he would be just
Fine. And he really Enjoyed being a
free-range pig. He was quite the
Adventurous pig and would explore things.
Some pigs were just meant to be free-range,
and he was definitely one of them.
He was very Curious.

He has a book called 'The Adventures
of Brownie Bear & Butterscotch'. Also, he
was featured as the 'Pet of the Day' on
August 11, 2005 on petoftheday.com. And then,
he won 1st Place in the 2006 CRITTERS USA
magazine for the 'Calorie-Burning Critter'
category. And he also won 2nd Place in
the 2007 CRITTERS USA magazine for the
'On the Go' category. He was quite the
little Celebrity and whee couldn't be
more Proud of our boy.

Butterscotch, I miss you so much, Baby.
But, I know that you are Okay and you
are playing in endless fields of parsley
and clover with your Brownie Bear and
all of your friends and Peter Gurney
up there over the Bridge. I promise you
that when the time is Right, we will be
reunited and we will never, ever be
apart again. I Promise.

Rest in Peace, my little Cuddle Bug...
